1. Introduction

These Terms & Conditions govern the access and use of the InterpAssist mobile application, website, and related services ("Platform"). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Platform.

InterpAssist is a multilingual interpretation marketplace designed to connect clients with independent interpreters. The Platform empowers interpreters to set their own rates, manage their schedules, and provide services directly to clients.

2. Nature of the Platform

  • The Platform is a marketplace, not an employer, agency, or staffing company
  • Interpreters are independent contractors, not employees, agents, or representatives of InterpAssist
  • InterpAssist does not supervise, control, or guarantee the quality, accuracy, or legality of interpretation services
  • Clients are responsible for selecting interpreters whose qualifications meet their needs

3. User Accounts

  • Users must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
  • Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials
  • Users must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform
  • InterpAssist may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms

4. Interpreter Responsibilities

Interpreters agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about their skills, experience, and credentials
  • Set their own rates in compliance with applicable laws
  • Deliver services professionally, ethically, and in accordance with industry standards
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client information
  • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements related to interpretation services

Interpreters acknowledge that:

  • They are solely responsible for their tax obligations
  • They are not entitled to employee benefits from InterpAssist
  • They must carry any licenses or certifications required by their jurisdiction

5. Client Responsibilities

Clients agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about the nature of the appointment
  • Use the Platform for lawful purposes only
  • Treat interpreters with respect and professionalism
  • Pay all fees associated with booked services

Clients acknowledge that:

  • They are contracting directly with interpreters
  • They are responsible for verifying interpreter qualifications if required for legal, medical, or official purposes

6. Payments

  • Interpreters set their own rates
  • Clients agree to pay the rate displayed at the time of booking
  • Payments are processed through the Platform's secure payment system
  • InterpAssist may charge a service fee to clients and/or interpreters, disclosed at checkout
  • Payouts to interpreters are issued according to the Platform's payment schedule

7. Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellations and refunds are governed by the Cancellation Policy below. By using the Platform, users agree to those terms.

8. Cancellation & Refund Policy

8.1 Client Cancellations

  • More than 24 hours before appointment: Full refund
  • Between 24 and 2 hours before appointment: 50% refund
  • Less than 2 hours before appointment: No refund

8.2 Interpreter Cancellations

If an interpreter cancels:

  • Clients receive a full refund
  • The Platform may assist in finding a replacement interpreter, subject to availability
  • Repeated interpreter cancellations may result in account review or suspension

8.3 No-Show Policy

  • Client No-Show: No refund; interpreter receives full payment
  • Interpreter No-Show: Client receives full refund; interpreter may face penalties or suspension

8.4 Late Arrivals

  • If a client is more than 10 minutes late, the interpreter may end the session and mark it as a no-show
  • If an interpreter is late, the client may request a refund or continue the session

8.5 Technical Issues

  • If a session cannot proceed due to verified technical issues on the interpreter's side, the client receives a full refund
  • If issues are on the client's side, the refund follows the standard cancellation rules

8.6 Disputes

  • Users may submit a dispute within 48 hours of the appointment
  • InterpAssist will review evidence from both parties and make a final determination

9. Prohibited Conduct

Users may not:

  • Misrepresent identity, credentials, or purpose
  • Harass, abuse, or discriminate against others
  • Use the Platform for illegal or harmful activities
  • Attempt to circumvent the Platform's payment system
  • Record sessions without explicit consent from all parties

10. Confidentiality & Privacy

  • Interpreters must maintain strict confidentiality of all client information
  • Clients must respect interpreter privacy and may not share personal information without consent
  • All user data is handled according to the Platform's Privacy Policy

11. Disclaimers

  • InterpAssist does not guarantee interpreter availability, service quality, or outcomes
  • The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
  • InterpAssist is not liable for errors, omissions, or damages arising from interpretation services

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • InterpAssist is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount paid by the user for the disputed service

13. Dispute Resolution

  • Users agree to resolve disputes through binding arbitration rather than court litigation
  • Users waive the right to participate in class actions
  • Local laws may apply depending on the user's jurisdiction

14. Modifications to Terms

InterpAssist may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
