Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about booking, payments, cancellations, and interpreting on InterpAssist. Can't find what you need? Contact our support team.

What is InterpAssist?expand_more
InterpAssist is a platform that connects clients with professional interpreters for video, phone, and in-person interpretation. You can browse interpreters, view their languages and rates, and book a session that fits your schedule.
How do I book an interpreter?expand_more
Browse available interpreters, choose one whose languages and availability match your needs, pick an open time slot, and submit a booking request. The interpreter then has up to 48 hours to accept or decline your request.
When is my card charged?expand_more
When an interpreter accepts your booking, a payment authorization (a hold) is placed on your card to secure the appointment. Your card is only charged after the session has taken place and been confirmed. If a booking is cancelled or declined before then, the hold is released. See our Cancellation & Refund Policy for details.
What happens if I need to cancel?expand_more
Refunds depend on how far in advance you cancel: a full refund if you cancel more than 24 hours before the appointment, a 50% refund between 24 and 2 hours before, and no refund within 2 hours of the start time. Full details are in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
What if the interpreter cancels?expand_more
If an interpreter cancels an accepted booking, you receive a 100% refund to your original payment method, including any processing fees. We will also make reasonable efforts to help you find an alternate qualified interpreter, subject to availability.
Which languages and services are available?expand_more
Available languages and service types vary by interpreter. Each interpreter's profile lists the languages they support and whether they offer video, phone, or in-person interpretation. Use the interpreter directory to find someone who matches your needs.
Is my payment information secure?expand_more
Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe, our payment provider. Card details are entered directly into Stripe's secure fields — InterpAssist never sees or stores your raw card numbers on its servers.
How do I become an interpreter on InterpAssist?expand_more
Sign up for an interpreter account, complete your profile (including a profile photo), add your languages and services, set your weekly availability and rates, and complete payout onboarding through Stripe. Once your profile is complete, clients can find and book you.
How do interpreters get paid?expand_more
Interpreters are paid through Stripe after a completed session. You set up your payout account from the Wallet section of your dashboard, where you can also view your payout status and transaction history.
